Hello, I’m Shelley Jaymes, a native Texan and clean romance author who makes her home in a small town with fewer than six hundred people—where the pastures are wide, the neighbors wave when they pass, and the cows outnumber the humans by a comfortable margin.
I grew up here, left for a while, and then found my back to the kind of place that shapes the heart and never quite lets go. It’s the perfect setting for the stories I love to write – stories about men and women who know the value of family, community, and a promise kept.
THE STORIES I TELL
I write clean romance – the kind you can recommend to your teenage daughter or your eighty-year old grandmother without blushing. My heroes are loyal, fair, and true to their word. They’re good neighbors, straight shooters, and the kind of men who still believe that a handshake is as binding as any contract. When they give their hearts, they give them for life.
My heroines are smart, kind, and independent. They take no guff, know their own worth, and won’t settle for anything less than a man who respects them fully. They are strong in their own right, but love – when they find it with the right man – makes them even stronger.
A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS
When I’m not writing, you’ll probably find me:
- reading or blogging
- doing needlepoint
- enjoying tacos or Sonic ice (the best kind of ice, if you ask me)
- cheering for the heroes in disaster movies
- snacking on dill pickles
- anxiously awaiting a visit from one of my adult children or my two grand-doggies—who are always greeted like royalty when they come home to visit

I believe in love that lasts, kindness that matters, and stories that leave readers smiling long after the final page. Small-town romance isn’t just a genre to me—it’s a reflection of the life I know and cherish.
